The Traditional Method
- Fill Gourd 2/3 full with the loose-leaf yerba mate
- cover with hand and shake
- tilt to 45 angle
- add room temp water to empty side, about half way up
- while it soaks that water up, heat water to brand and personal preference (see this Post)
- pour water into empty side, leaving mound of dry leaves
- let steep & cool for a few minutes
- drink completely, slurping sounds are good, get every last drop
- refill and repeat, passing to the next person if in a group
